NEW YEAR CHALLENGE | MORE TIME IN NATURE
Happy New Year. We hope you will fill 2024 with lots of time in nature and adventures in wild and scenic places. This year, we are offering recognition to anyone who hikes 1000 miles or spends 1000 hours in a natural environment before the end of the year. The prize is the experience. The award will be a distinctive sticker and a "hall of fame" listing on social media.

There are often questions about rules, but the good thing here is that there aren't any! 1000 hours outdoors or 1000 miles walking or running is about striving for quality time outside while improving your health and well-being through the use and enjoyment of trails, parks, and open spaces. That's the beauty of time outdoors in nature; it works for any age and in any outdoor environment. Don't sweat the details. You can adjust the goal if you need to.

All you need to do is track your time or miles in the easiest way and let us know when you reach the goal. Feel free to confirm your interest in the year-long challenge with an email message to Trails Council's Executive Director, Mark Wilkinson: contact
