TRAILS & ART…what’s that all about?

Hot off the presses are a set of six postcards showcasing paintings from Santa Ynez River and watershed. The front of the 6x8 postcards feature artwork from the River's Journey Project developed by six artists calling themselves Rose Compass. The backside has a map showing how to get to the location where the paintings were made.

The postcards were made to promote the goal of the Healthy People Healthy Trails initiative to encourage community members to connect to an active life; connect to the outdoors. This connection with nature made possible by a grant from CenCal Health.

The post cards complement the artist's exhibit: The River's Journey: A Wider View at the Sullivan Goss Gallery. Rose Compass artists include Connie Connally, Holli Harmon, Libby Smith, Nicole Strasburg, Nina Warner, and Pamela Zwehl-Burke.

Below are a few of the images the artists painted along the Santa Ynez river and the watershed that feeds it. A map is provided with directions to the spot the painting was made. We hope you will visit the next exhibit, see the artwork in a gallery setting and then grab a postcard and take off to see where it was painted.
